CPP greets Rahul, Priyanka for their successful campaign

New Delhi, May 15 (UNI) The Congress Parliamentary Party (CPP) today greeted Mr Rahul Gandhi and Ms Priyanka Gandhi Vadra for their effective campaigning in Rae Bareli which enabled the re-election of their mother and party President Sonia Gandhi to the Lok Sabha with a record margin of over 4,00,000 votes.

At the CPP meeting held here this morning, the MPs placed on record their appreciation of the Gandhi siblings for their significant contribution to the victory of Ms Sonia Gandhi, who was seeking re-election to the Lok Sabhat after quitting as an MP in the wake of the office-of-profit controversy, AICC spokesman Rajiv Shukla told reporters.

While Mr Rahul Gandhi, an MP from the adjacent Amethi constituency, was the campaign manager for Ms Sonia Gandhi, his sister had also taken time to garner support for their mother.

At the outset of the CPP meeting, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Defence Minister Pranab Mukherjee greeted Ms Gandhi by garlanding her, following which other party MPs also congratulated her, Mr Shukla said.
