Jabalpur, May 14 (UNI) Accusing Christian missionaries of inciting tribal and poor people to convert, VHP Central Advisory Board Member Acharya Dharmendra today stressed on the need for dealing with them strictly.

Acharya Dharmendra told reporters here today that Christian missionaries received large amount of foreign aid and A major part of it was being spent on inciting innocent people to convert.

He alleged that some years ago, late Pope John Paul II had stated that their mission had succeeded in Africa, and now the mission was in Asia with India, which was emerging as a super power, being their next target.

Pointing out that the nation could be scattered if it did not oppose missionary activities, the Acharya said India must be prepared to face religious assault.

Replying to a question, he said the situation in some states of the North-east had become serious with conversions being rampant.

There was extreme pressure on Hindus in these areas to convert.

Acharya Dharmendra said indiscriminate conversion and minority appeasement policies had cast dark clouds over Hindu pride.

''Hindus, in parts of the country where they were in minority, were facing several problems due to wrong policies of the government,'' he said, adding that atrocities were being committed towards minority Hindus in Kashmir, where Muslims intended to drive them out of the valley.

He appealed to political leaders to abandon minority appeasement policies.
