BD Food Chairman produced in court

Dhaka, May 15 (UNI) Arrested BD Food Chairman Badrudozza Momin was today produced in a Bangladesh court here and remanded for a week for questioning over his alleged involvement in heroin smuggling through business consignment to the United Kingdom.

Police asked for 10 days remand, but the court granted seven days for interrogation. Mr Momin was arrested yesterday evening from his Banani residence.

Bail petition was filed but not moved. Metropolitan Magistrate Md Shamsul Alam ordered his remand.

He was arrested on charges of smuggling the synthetic drug to the UK since 2004.

Earlier, one of his arrested managers, Ms Bulbul, had made confessional statement implicating Mr Momin in the illicit drug trade.
