New Delhi, May 15 (UNI) Raising the plight of patients in the wake of the doctors' strike in Delhi, Janata Dal (United) MP Prabhunath Singh today requested the Speaker to direct the government to arrange for medical personnel from the armed forces to help them.

Raising the issue in the Lok Sabha, Mr Singh said these doctors are agitating over the proposed issue of increased quotas as announced by the Human Resources Development minister Arjun Singh. The agitation was putting these thousands of villagers who throng the capital for medical treatment every day in ''lots of trouble as they are facing great difficulties in maintaining themselves in Delhi for a prolonged period.'' He requested the Chair to direct the Government to arrange doctors from the Defence services for providing medical treatment to these villagers.

Referring to the minister's frequent statements on this issue, he quipped that he did not know whether his (Mr Arjun Singh) statements were directed against Defence Minister Pranab Mukerjee or the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, but they would ''definitely put him in trouble.'' Mr Mukherjee, who was also present in the house then, said he was seized of the matter.
