Hyderabad, May 15 (UNI) An all-party delegation under the leadership of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy would soon visit New Delhi and meet the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh in an attempt to prevail upon the Centre to bring a constitutional amendment to ensure removal of disparities among the SCs in reservations.

Following a spirited fight between Malas and Madigas, the two dominant communities among the SCs in the state, the erstwhile TDP government had categorised SCs into four groups which was struck down by the Supreme Court on the ground that a state government was not competent to bring such an enactment as the problem concerned the entire nation.

Madigas though a majority have been fighting for the categorisation alleging that Malas were snatching most of the reservation opportunities.

The State Assembly during its last year session passed a unanimous resolution supporting categorisation. Malas, a dominant subsect has been opposing catergorisation and was threatening to launch a state-wide agitation. Madiga Reservation Porata Samiti (MRPS) leader Manda Krishna Madiga met the Chief Minister today and urged him to do justice to the Madiga community.

In the backdrop of the warring communities threatening to launch agitations the government today convened an all-party meeting headed by Municipal Administration Minister Koneru Ranga Rao which has decided to take an all-party delegation to New Delhi.

The main opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) however boycotted the all-party meeting. Congress allies CPI(M) and MIM expressed their inability to send a representative for the meeting due to prior engagements.
