UP Minister appeals Muslims to unite for ''justice''
Varanasi, May 14 : Uttar Pradesh Urban Development Minister and senior Samajwadi Party leader Mohd Azam Khan today urged Muslims to work in unison to seek ''justice'' for themselves.
Addressing a programme of weavers here, Mr Khan said be it Babri demolition or declining share of Muslims in government jobs-- gross injustice was meted out to the minority community since independence, especially during the Congress regime at the Centre.
Justice to the Muslims could only be a reality, if they united for the purpose, Mr Khan said.
On the weavers plight, especially on electricity woes, Mr Khan said the UP government had decided to implement a fixed charge for it. '' The charges would be fixed on the lines of the farmers in the state and a government order would soon be notified,'' he added.
''Some delay is taking place on the issue, but Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav wants to ensure that the GO is notified in a foolproof manner,'' he maintained.
Mr Khan said the power supply to the weavers in Varanasi and adjoining areas would be improved when the overall power scenario in the state devlops.
''The government is making serious efforts to improve the power scenario, but the targetted success has still not been achieved,'' he lamented.
