Visakhapatnam, May 14: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy has congratulated two tribal coffee growers for getting selected to the final round of the cupping competition, 'Flavour of India-Fine Cup Award 2006,' scheduled to be held in Switzerland on May 17.

Competing against reputed and established corporate bodies and multinational corporations, K Chinnammi and B Anasuya's samples were placed well ahead at ninth and 12th places among 199 samples, giving Visakhpatnam tribal coffee a place on the global map.

Under a project launched in 2002, coffee plantation was taken up in an intensive manner by the state government and its efforts were supplemented by the Coffee Board and Forest Department.

Participating in yesterday's function, Dr Reddy also honoured some tribal women for their efforts in promotion of coffee as sustainable means of livelihood.
