Surrendered ULFA militant found dead in police lock-up

Guwahati, May 14 (UNI) A day after surrender, an ULFA cadre was found dead in police lock-up in Asom, police said today.

Police said Pushpa Bora (37) of Nalbari village in Udalguri district had surrendered before the Superintendent of police on Friday and deposited a pistol.

He was then lodged in the lock up of Udalguri police station as a case had been pending against him in the same police station.

However, the militant was found dead inside the lock up last night. ''He used a blanket to hang himself from the window grill to end his life'', police added.

The body was sent for post mortem at Mangaldai Civil Hospital.
