Stepmother threatens self-immolation
Akola, May 14 (UNI) A 60-year-old woman has threatned to immolate herself in front of the Civil Line police station on May 25 if the police does not help her get back her house, she told mediapersons here.
Sitabai Rambhau Dhok, a resident of Khadan area in the city was allegedly thrown out of her house, where she had been living for the past 29 years, by her step son Shankar, she alleged.
She was out of town for some time and when she returned, she found her stepson had broken the door open and had thrown utensils worth Rs 10,000 out of her house, Sitabai Dhok said and added that he had begun constructing a new house at the same place where the old one once stood.
When she approached the police on May 9, they refused to take cognisance of the crime. She therefore lodged a complaint with the Deputy Superintendent of Police but to no avail.
With no roof under her head, she has threatened self-immolation if she does not get her house back.
