Srinagar, May 14 (UNI) The much-awaited Cabinet expansion in Jammu and Kashmir is likely to be delayed for some time due to the recently-surfaced sex scandal, allegedly involving top politicians besides senior civil, police and security officials, well-placed sources said today.

The Congress-led coalition government is facing the heat in the wake of the sex racket as protests continue unabated in the Kashmir valley for the past several days with people demanding disclosure of names and action against those involved in the scandal.

Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad was likely to have gone for an expansion of his 13-member Ministry before the second round-table conference on Kashmir, convened by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, here on May 25, they added.

But, the move could be delayed further as the Congress-Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) coalition government was in the dock as names of several senior leaders and former ministers belonging to the two parties have allegedly figured in the sex racket.

Since taking over as the tenth Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir from PDP's Mufti Mohammad Sayeed on November two last year as per the power-sharing agreement, Mr Azad has been under tremendous pressure from his party colleagues and coalition partners to expand the Council of Ministers.

The alliance partners -- the PDP, the Panthers Party and the Peoples Democratic Forum (PDF) -- have all demanded major share in the next Cabinet expansion.
