Model village programme commencing

Mysore, May 14: The process for identification of villages under the new scheme of building model villages in all the 224 Assembly constituencies in Karnataka has commenced, State Housing Minsiter D T Jayakumar said today.

Speaking to newsmen here he said the project would commence in a month's time. Under the scheme the government proposed to build entire village and hand over to the villagers. If succeeded the project would be implemented in a phased manner through out the state, he addd.

He said the government would initiate the work on identifying beeficiaries under the rajiv Gandhi housing scheme from next month.

Nearly 300,000 houses would be provided this year under the scheme.
