Light, sound and water programme on Emperor Kharavela

Bhubaneswar, May 14 (UNI) A unique light, sound and water programme was presented here to depict heroic acts of ruler Emperor Kharavela and his victory over Magadha.

The programme, using the latest technology, was inaugurated by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

Conceived, supervised and directed by noted director Bijaya Midhra and art director Asim Basu, the one-hour theme on Kalinga Emperor Kharavela, a valiant warrior, was organised by Pathani Samant Planetarium.

Pathani Samant Planetarium Director Gouri Shankar Ray said the basic feature of the project, was based on using the laser projector, water screen, intelligent moving head projector and eight channel audio track to depict the heroic acts of the Emperor and his victory over Magadha.

The programme in Oriya with musical fountains, dramatised the sequence of the birth of Kharavela, his effort to restore the lost glory of Kalinga and final victory over Magadha to encompass the empire from Ganges to Godavari.

The programme through light, sound and water presented as to how Kharavela ascended the throne and brought dramatic changes in the self-respect of the people of Kalinga.

The Chief Minister also inaugurated the Astronomical Park inside the Planetarium, which has several astronomical models like PSLV model, Horizontal Sundial, Equatorial Sundial, Vertical Sundial, solar System, Jupiter, Mars and their satellites.

Orissa Culture Minister Damodar Rout presided over the meeting which was attended by Energy and Tourism Minister S N Patra, Lok Sabha Member Prasanna Patsani and state Chief Secretary Subash Pani.
