LG GSM phones in Hindi and Marathi

New Delhi, May 14 (UNI) To widen the mobile usage, LG GSM phones are offering mobiles in Indian languages starting with Hindi and Marathi, which will be seen followed by and soon in Tamil, Malayalam and Bengali.

Speaking to UNI LG's GSM Mobile Phones country head H S Bhatia said that the company is currently working on a language software.

Mr Bhatia said the mobile phone B2050 is also priced at an affordable Rs 2,990 which are filled with attractive features. The phone will have a colour monitor with an option of using 65,000 colour screens also.

LG GSM part of the LG Electronics India Pvt LTd (LGEIL) is also targetting to hit the black and white mobile phone market. He said just like the B/W TVs had to move off with the onset of colour, the same thing will be replicated in the mobile phone arena also, spearheaded by LG.

''Even the memory is in the local language apart from a built in modem'', Mr Bhatia said.

The GSM phone market in India has seen a phenomenal growth, and cashing in on its experience in this segment internationally, LG plans to establish its brand strength in the domestic market by a combination of new designs and technology.

Although a latecomer in the GSM market, LG has elicited a positive response from Indian customers after it forayed into the bGSM segment in India in 2003.

Today it has a product line-up of 10 models which are equipped with innovative features such as MP3 with DJ effect, video recording and playback, plug and play, FM radio, Bluetooth, bilt-in-modem etc.

The price ranges from Rs 2990 to Rs 18,000, Mr Bhatia said.
