Khot to surrender tomorrow
Mumbai, May 14 (UNI) Suspended additional Chief Secretary Ashok Khot who has been sentenced to one-month simple imprisonment by the Supreme Court, will surrender before the police tomorrow, Director General of Police (DGP) Dr P S Pasricha today said.
When contacted, Dr Pasricha said Mr Khot had spoken to him over telephone and said that he was out of Mumbai. He will surrender on his arrival here tomorrow Dr Pasricha said.
When asked that what action police would take if he did not surrender, Dr Parischa said, '' Law will take its own course.'' Mr Naik and state Additional Chief Secretary Ashok Khot were sentenced to one-month simple imprisonment for violation of the Supreme Court orders of 1997, which ordered closure of over 100 saw mills operating from the reserve forest area.
Mr Naik was the state Forest Minister and Khot was Principal Forest Secretary in 2004, when they permitted six saw mills to operate from the reserve forest area in the state.
