New Delhi, May 14 (UNI) A seven-member team of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police scaled the mighty Mount Everest this morning.

The 8,848-metre peak was scaled at about 1000 hrs today morning, according to the ITBP spokesperson here.

The team also unfurled the national tricolour besides the ITBP flag on the highest peak of the world.

The '3rd ITBP Mount Everest Expedition 2006' team, comprising of 28 members, had been flagged off by Home Minister Shivraj Patil on March 25.

Another 'team of eight' from the force would make an attempt on May 16 to set a record of putting maximum mountaineers on the Everest, said the spokesperson.

After 1992 and 1996, this is the third successful attempt by the ITBP to scale the challenging heights of Mount Everest, he added.
