Illegal liquor manufacturing unit busted

Pondicherry, May 14(UNI)Police today burst an illegal liquor manufacturing unit at Saidarapet near here.

According to police, additional senior superintendent of police B.Srikanth received information about the functioning of an unit in a pump house at Saidarapet and directed the police to investigate on it.

Seeing the police team, an occupant of the pump house ran away and escaped. Further conducting a search, the police team found out nearly 100 liters of rectified spirit, several empty liquor bottles, bogus lables of established liquor brands and two motorcycles.

Police seized the items, which is worth about Rs two lakhs.

The watchman of the pump house, Muthayyen was arrested in this connection. The seized materials were later handed over to the excise department.
