Cong behind demand for separate Gurdwara body: SGPC chief
Hisar, May 14 (UNI) Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) president Avtar Singh Makkar today alleged that the demand for a separate Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee in Haryana is being made at the instance of Congress party.
Mr Makkar, on his arrival at Hansi in the district said, ''It is the Congress party that is demanding separate body for Gurdwaras in Haryana and not the Sikhs living here.'' He said, ''SGPC was formed with the blood of martyrs and nobody is powerful enough to break it.'' Mr Makkar said, despite only seven gurdwaras under the SGPC in Haryana, the committee is running a medical college at Shahbad, public schools at Kaithal, Sirsa and other social activities worth crores of rupees for the benefit of the people of the state.
