Brand Buddha for balanced approach for development

Kolkata, May 14 (UNI) Advocating for a balanced approach for both rural and urban development in West Bengal, Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee said he was making a ''conscious attempt'' to reach out to capital to improve the quality of life of all strata of people.

''We have to take a balanced approach for rural and urban growth since 65 per cent of the people of the state live in rural areas. I am making a conscious attempt to reach out to capital to improve the quality of life of different sections of the society, '' Mr Bhattacharjee told a private news channel late last night.

Enumerating his priorities after his party's sweeping victory in the elections, the Chief Minister said a balanced view for development of the manufacturing and knowledge sectors need to be taken for growth.

''Horticulture, Food Processing, Plastics and Tourism industry need attention so that they can create jobs for the youth of the state, '' he said.
