Area Commander of CPI(Maoist) killed in encounter
Gaya, May 14 (UNI) A self-styled area commander of proscribed CPI (Maoist) was killed in an encounter with local police at Bhitarwan village under Atri police station in Bihar's Gaya district late last night.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Magadh range, Arvind Pandey said today that on a tip off, police raided a hideout and the Maoist was eliminated in the ensuing encounter.
Mr Pandey said that some associates of the Maoist, however, managed to escape from the spot, taking advantage of darkness.
An automatic rifle, some live cartridges and naxal literature were recovered from the spot.
Raids were on to arrest the other accomplices of the slain Maoist, he added.
