AP Govt announces Rs 10 cr power waiver

Hyderabad, May 14 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today announced a waiver of Rs 10 crore in dues pertaining to power theft by farmers and other domestic users.

Speaking at the plenary of the APCC being held as a 're-dedication conclave' here, Dr Reddy said dues of about one lakh domestic consumers with respect to power theft, amounting to Rs 8 crore would be waived. Similarly, Rs Two crore due from farmers would also be waived, he added.

The theft cases would be withdrawn and consumers could revive their power connections by paying a compounding fee of Rs 500, he added.

He also said the state had recorded 51 per cent growth in it exports during the last two years.
