2 held for cow slaughter

Dhar, MP, May 14 (UNI) Two persons were arrested in connection with cow slaughter at Manavar in this district, police said today.

Sub-divisional Officer of Police (SDOP) P S Meena said following a tip-off, police raided the accused's house and found the two slaughtering a cow.

The accused were arrested under the Madhya Pradesh Gau Vansh Pratishedh Adhiniyam, 2004. Two cows were recovered and handed over to 'Gaushala'.

Hindu outfits staged a demonstration in front of a police station following the arrest.

The matter calmed down after police ensured that strict action will be taken against the accused.
