Delhi, Kolkata Police tiff over Munshi's arrest
New Delhi, May 13 (UNI) A face-off took place between the Delhi Police and the Kolkata Police today over the arrest of filmactor Shayan Munshi, one of the prime witnesses in the Jessica Lal murder case.
After being informed of Munshi's arrest by immigration authorities in Kolkata, Delhi Police told the Kolkata police that the 'look-out card' issued against him was merely to ensure his presence in India and not to arrest him, according to the police here.
The Delhi police further directed the Kolkata police to ask Munshi to join the police in Delhi for investigation, after they were told that the actor had been produced in a court.
However, the Delhi Police insisted that it had not sought the arrest of Munshi but required his presence only for questioning.
The clarification to this effect was made after Munshi was arrested at the Kolkata airport while he was to leave for Hong Kong this morning.
However, Munshi was later granted bail.
Shayan Munshi was a budding model when model Jessica Lall was allegedly shot dead by Manu Sharma, son of Haryana Minister Vinod Sharma, on the intervening night of April 29/30, 1999 during a party at a posh South Delhi restaurant, hosted by socialite Bina Ramani.
