Three former Nepal ministers held for questioning

KATHMANDU, May 12 (Reuters) Three ministers in the royalist government of King Gyanendra, who gave in to last month's mass protests and handed power back to political parties, were held for questioning today, their families said.

They said Kamal Thapa, Rameshnath Pandey and Shris Shumsher Rana were picked up by police today. Thapa was home minister while Pandey and Rana held the foreign and information portfolios respectively.

Officials could not be reached for comment. Pro-democracy activists have been demanding action against officials they said were responsible for cracking down on the mass campaign in which 17 people were killed and thousands wounded.
