RGCT productivity increases

Kochi, May 12 (UNI) Productivity at the Rajiv Gandhi Container Terminal(RGCT) here has shown an upward trend since its take-over by the India Gateway Terminal of the Dubai Ports World, the company sources claimed.

The productivity rose to 14 gross moves per hour in April 2006 from the earlier nine gross moves per hour of April 2005, despite many constraints, a release said here today.

Vessel Kota Teraju completed 131 vessel moves in 1833 hrs on May four and five with one quay crane averaging 20.79 gross moves per hour. Green Space completed 281 vessel moves in ten hours and Kripa achieved 710 vessel moves in 1825 hours.

OEL Peace completed 336 moves in the third shift on May ten and 11 and a new quay crane handling record of 176 moves was set up in the same shift.

The company hoped that the performance would further go up with better vessels to work with and larger parcel sizes, the release added.
