RBI adds security features to Rs 10 notes
New Delhi, May 12 (UNI) The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) today announced the issue of Rs 10 denomination banknotes in Mahatma Gandhi series without inset letter in the numbering panel, bearing signatures of Governor of the Central Bank Y V Reddy.
The new notes will have a machine readable magnetic security thread of 1.4 mm width with RBI and 'Bharat' (in Devanagri script) inscriptions. The thread, which fluoresces in yellow in UV light, would be visible as a continuous line from behind when held up against the light.
The floral design on both sides of the note next to the Watermark window would be replaced by the numeral ten.
The other security features added to the banknotes of this denomination are that the numeral ten would appear alongside the Mahatma Gandhi's portrait in the watermark window and the year of printing will appear on thr reverse of the banknote.
Also, the new series of Rs 10 notes would be printed on a better quality paper.
