PULF commander dead in encounter
Imphal, May 12: Commander-in-Chief of Peoples United Liberation Front (PULF) Md Bashiruddin Khan was shot dead in an encounter with Assam Rifles in Manipur's Thoubal district, police said today.
An aid of the PULP chief was also killed in the encounter that took place yesterday, police added.
Incriminating documents including extortion notices were also recovered from the slain ultra. ''The commander was involved in a number of killings and extortion cases'', they said.
Arms, ammunition and some money were also recovered from the duo.
The killing of Bashir has dealt a major blow to the organisation, police claimed.
