Police guns down wanted criminal

Ferozabad, May 12 (UNI) Police today gunned down a wanted criminal carrying a reward of Rs 2,500 on his head in an encounter in Tundla area here.

Superintendent of Police Amitabh Thakur said the slain criminal was identified as Rajendra alias Fauzi. He had over 19 cases including murder and loot registered against him.

On a tip-off that Rajendra and his companions were present at village Mehnri, a police team arrived at the spot this afternoon and asked them to surrender.

The criminals allegedly fired at the cops and in the ensuing encounter Rajendra was killed.

Other criminals, however, managed to escape.

The SP had announced cash reward to the police team.
