PETA protests in front of KFC

Mumbai, May 12 (UNI) Even as KFC opened its first restaurant at Bandra in North West Mumbai, activists of People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) protested in front of the restaurant for the ''illtreatment'' of chicken.

Talking to UNI, PETA Chief Functionary Anuradha Sawhney said ''KFC is the largest consumer of chicken world-wide with over 750 miliion chicken in a year.'' She said, ''The suppliers of the chicken in united states threw the birds against the walls, blow smoke in their eyes, kick and stamp. We have made over 2,000 protests across the world against the KFC and we will continue our protest till the suppliers stop illtreating the birds.'' Now MacDonald has improved the standards of the treatment to birds world wide but KFC has not, she said yesterday.
