Maoist naxal couple surrender
Khammam, Andhra Pradesh, May 12 (UNI) A Commander of a Dal of the Maoists in Illendu area of this district, Narapaka Rambabu alias Vasant alias Kishore (28) and his wife and platoon commander Ramadevi alias Geeta (28) today surrendered before the district Superintendent of Police (SP) R K Meena.
The two, who joined the People's War Group in 2002 and got married in 2006, told newspersons they were surrendering as they were disillusioned with the policies of the party and due to ill health.
Cases were pending against them in connection with the blasting of a bus station at Illendu in which two policemen Pothuraju Gutta and Pala Gandi were killed and threatening of New Democracy Dal members of Bironi Maduva and decamping with their weapons.
Kishore and Geeta carried a reward of Rs 2 lakhs and Rs 20,000 each on their heads.
The SP, congratulating the Illendu police for making the couple surrender, announced that he would ensure that the surrendered naxalites received the prescribed financial and other help from the government.
