Karunakaran regrets over statement about Eachara Warrier

Kochi, May 12 (UNI) Democratic Indira Congress(K) leader K Karunakaran has expressed regret over the statement he had allegedly made on the day of the demise of Prof T V Eachara Warrier, father of engineering student P Rajan who was allegedly tortured to death during the Emergency.

In reply to a lawyer notice issued on behalf of Mr Karunakaran, Advocate N Jayachandran Nair of Thiruvananthapuram made it clear that Mr Karunakaran had never used any word hurting the feelings of the bereaved family of Prof Warrier.

Ms Chandini, daughter of Prof Warrier, had sent lawyer notice to Mr Karunakaran informing that legal action would be taken against him unless he withdrew the statement about her deceased father.

According to Mr Karunakaran, the alleged statement was stage- managed by his political opponents for using against him during the Assembly elections.
