Jail term for Forward Bloc MP in rape case

Purulia, May 12 (UNI) Forward Bloc MP Bir Singh Mahto was today sentenced to ten years jail by a local court after being convicted in a rape case in 1983.

Additional Sessions Judge of Purulia court Subash Chattaraj pronounced the judgement in a packed house convicting Mr Mahto and four others in a rape and arson case on Renubala Bhagat of Bagmundi village of Purulia district on Septmber 20,1983.
