Inter-state counterfeit currency racket busted, one held
Varanasi, May 12 (UNI) Police busted an inter-state fake currency racket with the arrest of a person in Adampur area here.
Police superintendent (City) Anant Deo said following a tip-off, cops raided a betel shop in Kazzakpura last night and held Lal Bahadur possessing counterfeit currency.
The fake tenders totalling Rs 21,860 were in the denomination of 100, 50 and 10 rupee notes.
On interrogation, the accused admitted of getting the fakes from neighbouring Bihar and circulating it in Varanasi and adjoining districts.
A search had been launched for the other gang members.
