Elections for 11 MIC seats on June 1

Mumbai, May 12 (UNI) The biennial elections for 11 seats of Maharashtra Legilative Council(MLC) to be elected from the 288-member legislative assembly will be held on June 1.

The 11 members of the legislative council who are retiring on July 27 are Vilas Avachat, Kanhaiyalal Gidwani, Dr Deepak Sawant(Shiv sena), Ulhas Pawar, Govindrao Adik, Natikoddin S Khatib (cong) Shantaram Karmalkar, Kanta Nalavade(BJP), Vinayak Mete (NCP), Jayant Patil (PWP), Dayanand Maske (RPI).

The notification of this election will be announced on May 15, and the last day of filing the nomination papers is May 22. The scrutiny of the nominations will be held on May 23 and the last date of withdrawal is May 25.

Voting, if required, will be held on June 1.

The secretary of Maharashtra legislature secretary A N Kalse will be the returning officer while joint secretary Umesh Khadakikar is assistant returning officer, a release added.
