Wanted criminal gunned down, AK-56 recovered

Moradabad, May 11 (UNI) Police today gunned down a wanted criminal carrying a reward of Rs 27,500 on his head in an encounter here.

On a tip-off, police intercepted a car on Moradabad-Kanth road.

However, the car occupant tried to flee firing at the cops and in the ensuing encounter, the criminal was killed.

The slain gangster was identified as Sanjay alias Nadeem.

An AK-56 rifle was recovered from the spot.

Uttar Pradesh and Uttaranchal governments had announced bounties of Rs 25,000 and Rs 2,500 respectively on Nadeem's head.
