Drunk resident doctors suspended

Ahmedabad, May 11: The State Department of Health and Medical Education today ordered a high-level departmental inquiry into two resident doctors found drunk in the Government Civil Hospital here on Monday night.

The department has also suspended Dr Deepak Pandya and transferred his senior Prof Rajesh Solanki with immediate effect, an official spokesman said here today.

The doctors were found drunk and in dishevelled condition with a young girl in their duty room on the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday in room number 12 of D-8 ward of the Civil Hospital, touted to be the country's largest and one of the best.

The inquiry committee comprises Prof Manju Anchaliya, Dr Dulari Gandhi of Sir Sayaji General (SSG) Hospital, Vadodara, and Prof Tandon of Surat Medical College. The committee has been asked to submit the report within 15 days.
