Patil attending SAARC Home Ministers' meet in Dhaka

New Delhi, May 11: Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil is in Dhaka to attend a meeting of Interior/Home Ministers of SAARC countries being held in the Bangladesh capital today.

The meeting is discussing implementation of decisions taken by various SAARC summits from time to time to tackle terrorism, controlling drug abuse, trafficking in women and children and menace of money laundering.

The technical cooperation in police matters, training of police personnel of SAARC countries and strengthening of the existing structures of SAARC Terrorist Offences Monitoring Desk (STOMD) and SAARC Drug Offences Monitoring Desk (SDOMD) are also being deliberated at the meeting.

Mr Patil had arrived in Dhaka yesterday to attend this meeting.

Union Home Secretary V K Duggal attended the first meeting of Interior/Home Secretaries of SAARC countries held yesterday. A team of senior police officers from India also attended the Police meet held in Dhaka on May 9.
