Levi Strauss open's biggest store in Asia Pacific

Bangalore, May 11 (UNI) Cashing in on its growing popularity, Levi Strauss opened Levi's Square, it's largest store in Asia Pacific, in the city today.

Covering an area of 9000 sq ft, the Store was the second largest for the company after its outlet located in San Francisco, Levi Srauss India Country Manager Shumone Chatterjee told newspersons here.

Spanning three floors, Levi's Square was all set to emerge as a popular tourist destination, he said, adding that the bold step of Levi Strauss and Co., demonstrated a commitment to innovate in all spheres of its business ever since it was established in 1853.

Mr Chatterjee said ''The Levi's Square captures the very essence of what the Levi's brand is all about --originality, innovation, integrity and courage.'' He said Levi's sales in India had been growing at over 35 to 40 per cent during the last four years and the growth was expected to touch a much higher plane over the next few years in view of the vibrant retail market.

Bangalore was chosen as the venue for the innovation as it was vibrant market and it's here that the Company launched its India voyage ten years agoi, Mr Chatterjee said.

He said the company was procuring 99 per cent of its material requirement from within the country.

It was also aiming to launch kid's wear and footwear soon.

Built during the last four months, the Store revealed the beauty of human enterprise while acknowledging the advent of technology.
