Farmers paralyse road and train communications
Saharsa, May 11 (UNI) Road and rail communication remained paralysed for several hours today in Saharsa following agitation of farmers associated with Bihar Kisan Sabha (BKS).
District Magistrate K P Singh said here that the agitationists squatted on the railway tracks and staged dharna on the main Saharsa-Bangaon road, following which traffic remained paralysed for several hours. He said 27 members of the Kisan Sabha had been arrested for disrupting road and rail communications.
Meanwhile, railway sources said some passengers and express trains including 5276 down Barauni-Saharsa express, 5209 up Saharsa Amritsar express, 259 Katihar-Saharsa passenger train and others remained stranded at different places due to the agitation.
The agitationists were demanding compensation for the farmers for the damaged crops of wheat and maize in Kosi division and water to every field among other demands.
