DMK workers held in Mettupalayam
Coimbatore, May 11 (UNI) About 200 DMK activists were arrested when they resorted to a road roko demanding recount of postal votes in Mettupalayam constituency, where DMK candidate B Arunkumar lost to O K Chinnaraj by a margin of 142 votes.
Police said the agitators alleged that the poll observer had said they had received 850 postal votes. But they had registered only 682 votes. They blamed the election authorities for not taking into account over 200 votes and sought a reelection or at least a recount of postal votes.
