Dalit bridegroom rides elephant
Ujjain (Madhya Pradesh), May 11: A dalit bridegroom here defied stiff opposition from upper-caste members to reach his bride's house atop a majestic tusker, albeit under police protection.
According to the police, tension brewed in the Sarula village in this district when the upper caste members opposed the groom's plan to head his wedding procession on May 8, riding an elephant.
As the groom refused to climb down from his position and ride the ''usual'' mare, police decided to escort him to avoid any untoward incident.
