Congress marching ahead in Asom; AGP lags behind

Guwahati, May 11: The Congress was racing ahead in Asom with its main rival Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) lagging far behind, taking a firm lead in 28 seats.

So far early trend of 60 out of 126 constituencies was available of which the Congress was leading in 28 seats, while the AGP was leading in 14 and Independents, mostly Bodo candidates, were ahead in nine constituencies.

The BJP was leading only in one seat, but the AUDF was leading in four seats.

The early trend was predicting a hung Assembly as already backroom operators of both the parties have swung into action to keep their flocks together.
