Congress critises BJP on REGS's implementation
New Delhi, May 11 (UNI) The Congress today charged the BJP-ruled state Government with paying wages at the rate less than that prescribed in the Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (REGS).
This is unjustified and in violation of the Employment Guarantee Act, AICC Secretary for ST Department Mool Chand Meena said in a statement issued here.
Mr Meena said in Congress-ruled States there was unanimity in payment of wages to the workers on a particular job Rs 65 to Rs 73 being the minimum wages as per the scheme."But we find there is a wide discrimination in payment of wages in the BJP-ruled States like Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh where the wages is between Rs 32 to Rs 45.
"Their intention is to bring about failure of the scheme so judiciously and sincerely launched by the UPA Government," he said.
Mr Meena said the matter was being taken up with the Chief Ministers of BJP-ruled states.
