Celebration time at DMK party headquarters

Chennai, May 11: It was party time at DMK Headquarters ''Anna Arivalayam'', as early trends suggested in that the DMK-led DPA was leading in a majority of the 234 seats.

It was virtually a sea of humanity as DMK workers started thronging the party headquarters on the arterial Anna Salai right from early morning.

As the counting of votes polled in May eight polls began, the trends indicated that the six-party DMK-led DPA was heading for a victory, triggering wild celebrations in the DMK camp.

Even before the first results were out, a confident and jubilant party workers burst crackers and distributed sweets.

Several party workers also made a beeline to DMK President M Karunanidhi's Gopalapuram residence to greet him.

However, equally buoyant was the mood in the ruling AIADMK camp as party workers thronged the party Headquarters on the Lloyds Road in Royapettah.

Hundreds of AIADMK workers gathered at the party office and started celebrating.

Various exit polls predicted a big victory for the DMK-led DPA and the exit polls projections appeared to be holding good as the trends indicated.
