Braj Rakshak Dal protests in Delhi

New Delhi, May 11 (UNI) A protest was organised here today against illegal mining that is allegedly damaging hills in the Braj region across Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Haryana.

The protesters under the banner of Braj Rakshak Dal also addressed a memorandum to the Prime Minister listing their demands.

It listed the cultural importance of Braj region and the havoc that large-scale ilegal mining was causing to hills in the religious circuit.

It demanded that the Braj region be declared a heritage zone and that a CBI enquiry be ordered into the mining activity there.

It also sought a CBI probe into the alleged murder of a Braj Rakshak Dal activist in Bharatpur district of Rajasthan and adequate compensation to his family.
