BJP's Divya Singh wins Deeg bypoll

Bharatpur, May 11 (UNI) BJP candidate Diyva Singh was today declared elected in the byelections to the Deeg assembly constituency.

According to the state election department, Divya Singh defeated her nearest rival Laxman Singh (Congress) by 6,817 votes.

Laxman Singh was leading till the second round by 2,000 votes but lost ground to his BJP rival in the later stages.

The Deeg bypoll was neccessitated by the death of sitting member Arun Singh (Indian National Lok Dal).
