Bhattacharjee and Sonia congratulate each other

Kolkata, May 11 (UNI) Even as they hit each other in political rhetorics during campaigning for elections, Congress President Sonia Gandhi and West Bengal Chief Minister today congratulated each other for electoral victories.

While Mrs Gandhi congratulated Mr Bhattacharjee for his resounding victory in the West Bengal Assembly elections, the latter paid it back with equal courtesy for her landslide win in the Rae Bareily Parliamentary byelection.

''Mrs Gandhi rang me up to convey her congratulations to me. I also congratulated her for her victory in Parliamentary byelection,'' Mr Bhattacharjee told reporters.

Mr Bhattacharjee said Prime Minister Manmohan Singh also congratulated him for his victory from Jadavpur constituency where he defeated his nearest rival by a margin of 58,000 votes.
