Tegic launches Punjabi SMS software

Chandigarh, May 10 (UNI) Punjabi speaking mobile users can now send text messages in their native language.

Tegic, a unit of AOL's wireless division today launched the 7.4 version of T9 Text input software in Punjabi, a language spoken by more than 100 million people around the world.

Mridul Srivastava, Senior Country Manager, India, AOL's wireless division said,''There is a clear need for varnacular SMS in the Indian market. The Punjabi version of T9 software will provide speakers with new opportunities to communicate with family and friends in their preferred language.'' He said the the T9 software helps mobile users to quickly write SMS in 55 global languages, including Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Punjabi, Bengali and soon to be launch in Urdu, Kannad and Gujrati.
