Repoll in 18 stations being held today

Chennai, May 10 :Repoll in 18 polling stations, where failure of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) was reported during the May eight Assembly election in Tamil Nadu, is being held today.

Of these booths, five are located in Tiruttani constituency, three in Palacode and one each in Anna Nagar, Sriperumbudur, Mugaiyur, Aathur, Vedachandur, Kolathur, Thiruvandanai, Paramakudi, Virudhunagar and Vasudevanallur constituencies.

The Election Commission had ordered the repoll following reports of EVM malfunctioning and also due to technical problems relating to maintenance of important accounts by Presiding Officers, State Chief Electoral Officer Naresh Gupta has said.

Counting of votes is scheduled to commence at 0800 hrs tomorrow.
