Police rescue mother, son, three arrested
Kohima, May 10 (UNI) Dimapur police arrested three persons and rescued a mother and son from the clutches of abductors, who were demanding Rs ten thousand as ransom.
Official sources said police was acting on a complaint by one Suman Ali. The police raided some houses in Dimapur yesterday and was able to rescue Renu Begum and her son, abducted on May 5.
The kidnappers maintained that they wanted to get Rs ten thousand from Suman Ali, to whom they had sold contraband ganja. However after receiving the consignment, he disappeared without paying the amount.
The abductors then kidnapped his wife and son to pressurise him to return the amount. The woman also alleged that one of the captors had tried to rape her.
Further investigations were on, sources added.
