MP higher secondary results a healthy 71 pc

Bhopal, May 10: The Madhya Pradesh Board of Secondary Education's higher secondary school certificate results were in the range of a healthy 71 per cent and the fairer sex took the laurels again. The gender-wise pass percentage was girls 78 and boys 67.

School Education Minister Narottam Mishra released the results at 1600 hrs yesterday at the MPBSE office here and they became simultaneously available at all 48 district headquarters. Board Chairman U K Samal was also present on the occasion, a MPBSE release said here.

The toppers were arts -- Budhni's Tapasya Dubey, sciences -- Betul's Hitesh Gawde, commerce -- Damoh's Swati Jain, agriculture -- Damoh's Girdhari Lal Patel, fine arts -- Ujjain's Neha Pathak and home science -- Bhind's Rajni Singh Chouhan.

The number of regular students who appeared was 2,78,400 while 2,72,788 results were declared. As many as 1,00,953 figured in the first class, 85,311 second and 7,378 in the third class.

A total of 30,167 candidates were registered under the private or correspondence heads and 27,572 results declared. The classwise break-up was first -- 1,938, second 6,862 and third -- 2,180. This year, a stringent system was in place to prevent copying and the outcome was positive as the number of cases declined to 1,005 from the corresponding figure of 1,264 last year.

The supplementary exam would take place on July 2 from 1000 hrs to 1300 hrs.
